Obituary

 

MR WM. J. B. GROVES

 

The funeral of a respected inhabitant of the district, Mr Wm. J. B. Groves, of 36, Rickard Street, Pontypridd, took place on Tuesday, January 12th, 1943.  The officiating minister was the Rev. E. Lewis, Calvary.  The deceased was 79 years of age and had lived in the locality most of his life.  A service was held at the house and the chief mourners were : Will George, Alf and Trevor, sons; Jack Handley and David Rogers, grandsons; R. Handley, A. Moore, G. Rogers, and G. Morgan, sons-in-law; David and Tom Rogers, Paddy Hensen, nephews; Mr. Rowe, Neath, old friend.

 

The bearers were: G. Fox, E. Owen, J. Boyce, and King.

 

Mourners at the house were: sorrowing Wife, Rose, Annie, Beatie, Ethel and Dolly, daughters; Vera Handley, Ethel Moore, Peggy Foley, Pauline Rogers, Iris Moore and Shirley Morgan, grand-daughters; Gillian Foley, great-grand-daughter; Mrs. A. Groves daughter-in-law; Mrs. T. Rogers, niece; Mrs. Major, Mrs. Rowlands and Mrs. Govier, friends.

 

Signaller Clifford Rogers, grandson, was unable to attend the funeral owing to his late arrival on leave.

Aged Eighty-Seven

 

MRS MARY GROVES, GRAIG

 

The death occurred on February 24th of Mrs Mary Groves, 36 Rickard Street, Graig, wife of the late Mr William Groves

 

Aged 87, Mrs Groves had resided in the locality all her life and was greatly respected by all.

 

The funeral took place for Glyntaff Cemetery on February 29, the Rev. H. Bartlett (Calvary) and the Rev. G. Roberts (Park) officiating.

 

Mourners were: William, George and Alfred, sons; Messrs William Groves, Clifford Rogers, Ronald Hanley, William Moore, Alfred Groves, Jack Handley, David Rogers, Peter Groves, Mervyn Enoch and J Wilding, grandsons; Richard Handley and Arthur Moore, sons-in-law; David Rogers, Thomas Rogers and Eddie Lewis, nephews; W Major, Boyce, D Williams, J Thomas, bearers; D Game, W Enoch and D Rogers, friends.

 

At the house: Rose, Annie, Beat and Dolly, daughters; Emily, daughter-in –law; Vera, Peggy, Ethel, Iris, Paul and Jean, granddaughters; Ann and Renee, nieces; Mesdames Major, Boyce. A Rogers and Rowlands, friends.

 

Ethel, daughter and Pauline, granddaughter, were unable to attend owing to indisposition.
