Ambiguous Date Formats

There are many examples around on the Internet and, more importantly, in everyday life. Here are a few. Please email me as you come across them.

From Sam Nelson in the U.K.
  I came across a bottle of pills a couple of months ago in a cupboard, with the legend `Expiry: 04/01' on it.  One wonders if that means
    `this year, 1st April'
    `this year, 4th January'
    `last day of 2004-01'
    `last day of 2001-04'
  or possibly some other date I haven't thought of.  This was a prescription drug here---it could matter!
